This work originates from the necessity of getting the maximum use of natural recourses. It offers a technology of the obtainment of sodium alginate of different qualities from brown alga (Sargasso). The research of the fundamental stages of the obtainment of alginate has been carried out as well as the identification of the controlling stages and the possible variables of the quality of the final product have been defined. Based on an experimental design the effect of the factors of the possible influence has been optimized at the controlling stage, adjusting mathematical models that describe the behavior of the measured factors of quality. The previous analysis guides to the proposition of alternatives for the obtainment of alginate of acceptable quality for its utilization in different industries such as textile, agriculture, biotechnology, etc. Finally, based on the economic analysis, an effective technological recommendation for the obtainment of this product has been developed.
