This paper shows the energetic potential evaluation of Eucalyptus sp. wood production, on reforest areas by the forest replacement societies in São Paulo State. To determinate the energetic potential and equivalence with fuel oil and electric energy, was applied BRITO´s (1993) methodology. Considering the prices and charges of the market, the economical cost was calculated, from them and the implantation and management reforestation cost, were estimated the areas that could be replaced. It was achieved additionally a potential of kidnap carbon (CO2) analysis. The Eucalyptus paniculata showed a potential of energy production 101,09% higher than Eucalyptus grandis. This advantage exists, as well, for the kidnap carbon potential. The work developed by forest replacement societies become evident the relevance of obligatory forest replacement rate by a legal instrument to the policy and the regional energetic planning, making possible economical benefits, social and, mainly, environment.
