In irrigated agriculture, the expenses with electric energy can represent up to 25% of the production costs. It is believed that studies that seek the rational use of the energy are extremely valid for the users of the electric system, as for the makers of equipment's. In this work, the behaviour of the load, system performance, power factor and speed of electric motors used for pumping in central pivot sprinkling irrigation systems were evaluated with and without frequency inverters. For such, they were evaluated the different requirements of manometric height of the system along the irrigated perimeter. In order to verify the technical viability of the use of this equipment's, it was used one type of central pivot sprinkling irrigation: average, low and very low pressure. In the case in analysis was verified variations in the demands of manometric along the irrigated perimeter of the order of 60,5 mca, respectively. In the case in analysis, it was observed representative variations in the performance, load and power factor of the electric motors when the frequency inverter is not used for control of speed of the electric motors. They were calculated the rotations of the motors that minimise the consumption of energy and satisfy the project parameters, i. e., applied water and manometric height.
