This work reports the results of a technical evaluation of Solar Home Systems project at Parque Estadual da Ilha do Cardoso-SP. The systems belong to the CESP's commercial program called ECOWATT, initiated in 1997. During the visit were registered 75 systems (2 churches, 4 schools and 69 houses). In same houses testes of charge control performance and operation were done. The work shows some problems at the design and at the technical standard. In our valuation, some systems should have been smaller and some biggest, depending the needs and the payment capacity of each family. In this sense, a study of caiçara's way of living were missing, as well as its difference at social and economic class. The results reveal that many simple, but important, aspects for the exit of the project were not take in to account.
