The first part of the paper deals with the characteristics of the ATC which are compared with the Cooling Towers at a Counter-Stream (CTCS), pointing out the advantages and disadvantages of both of them as well as their limits in applications. Due to the fact that atomizing water attains the flow of the air in the ACT, neither packing nor ventilators are required, that makes it very economical with respect to the CTCS in some special systems refrigerating. After that the proposition of the methodology for the evaluation and design of the ACT that takes into consideration for the calculus, the new characteristics of operation follows the methodology of the design and evaluation is divided into the following parts: 1. General criteria for the design of the ATC. 2. Obtainment from the balance of masses and energy of: • The line of operation • The line of impulsive force • The equation of the design 3. Strategy to follow for the design and the evaluation of the ACT This methodology has been valid for the ACT that are used in the refrigerating plants of Santiago de Cuba.
