This work describes the Integrated Energy Resources Planning -PIR of the Médio Paranapanema (MPP) region in the São Paulo State, based on the sustainable development concepts in the context of the electricity industry, the environment and the meet of the basic needs of the rural population, looking for to maintain the man in the rural area. The work, it is addressed to the discussion, in terms of the sustained development, of a specific rural area of Brazil, analyzed in the global context of the Electric Industry. And this rural area is the Médio Paranapanema -SP, whose development has serious restrictions, where the supply of electricity comes as an important vector. Through PIR, several aspects are being proposed to be considered, such as: the environment; the cogeneration (sugar cane bagasse), pricing; the rural electrification; the use of non traditional energy; the multiple use of the rivers and; others. Being considered the uncertainties, the new market model and other tendencies as the deregulation, the privatization, the independent power production, etc.
