The Brazilian electric system load curve has an accentuated demand from 18 to 21 hours. The time-of-use tariff system charge as a function of the time of day and the year's period. By doing so, a costumer is reward if he/she consumes in off peak hours. The peak hour for tariff effect is defined as three consecutive hours from 5 to 10 p. m. from Monday through Friday; that is to say, in one month it has, on average only 65 hours peak and 665 hours off-peak. The demand and the consumption at the peak hours are rated in about two hundred percent and three hundred percent above the corresponding off-peak periods. For those reasons, the monthly electrical bill for the peak period ends up costing per hour about nine times the corresponding off-peak period. The electric energy auto generation at peak hours could become economically attractive. This article presents several options of electric energy independent generation to be used at peak hours. A comparative economic viability studies it is shown, using as fuel: (i) firewood; (ii) sugar cane bagasse, and (iii) natural gas. Besides these options, a set of batteries with an electrical system with frequency inverters was investigated. The batteries were used to energy storage during the off-peak period and during the peak period the frequency inverter converts the direct to alternating current. The best peak hour auto generation option will depend on the specific project's conditions.
