This paper deals with the behavior of the specific parameter named specific useful hydraulic energy (GEEH), for the technical and economical evaluation of electrical energy use of rationalization motive force in irrigation systems. It was studied five electric motors, standard " type " used in the pumping system for irrigation. For the economic viability study the GEEH present value parameter was considered for the expenses with electric energy along the planning horizon, as well as, the system head and project water flow. The technical viability of the use of the GEEH present value index was verified along with the traditional parameters of economic analysis named the internal return rate and capital return period. The study was made for the substitution of the electric motors in use in the farms for high efficient ones with of same rate as well as the usage of standard motors correctly rated for its load.
