The electricity generated by bagasse of the sugar cane is one of the products that contributed so that the derivatives of the sugar cane occupied the fourth position in 2000 in the matrix of Brazilian energy offer, losing only to the firewood, the hydraulical energy and derivatives of oil. Besides providing the energy self-sufficiency in the harvest, the generation of electricity through the bagasse provides excesses that, since 1987, are commercialized together to the electric sector. Even with the growth in the commercialization of these excesses, it has a potential to be commercialized of about 3.720 MW. In the achievement of this potential, points can be improved in the public politics. The spite of the transaction in the National Congress of Provisory Order n. 14 that will institute the Program of Incentive to the Alternative Sources of Electric Energy, it's notice the necessity of structuralized public politics for the co-generation in the sugar/cane sector or of one global politics for the energy taken in the sugar/cane sector.
