Since 1995, Brazil has been engaged in the reformulation of its energy sector offering new opportunities to the private capital to participate in the expansion and responsibility for the energy supply. Some agencies like ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency), ANP (National Petroleum Agency) and ANA (National Water Agency) were created in order to regulate the sector and protect the consumers. This paper deals with the new structure of the electric sector and presents a prospective analysis of the process.
