Despite the fact that the need for an adequate solar irradiation database is obvious to design photovoltaic rural electrification, the current availability in São Paulo is rather scarce. To transpose from horizontal to tilted surface values the work proposes a correlation specifically adapted to the geographical site and local climatology allowing the estimation of the diffuse fraction of the global irradiation. The work focus attention in São Paulo city and Ribeira Valley, on the southern coast of the State of São Paulo. This last area, located on the municipal district of Cananéia, has low rural electrification index and great potential of PV systems use to solve households electricity demands. This paper, in addition includes a short description of the experimental set-up and the instrumentation.
