On the countryside, the solar energy is a suitable and economical alternative to conventional energy sources. This work is concern with the use of solar energy on small farms with emphasis to non- conventional materials, i.e. cotton, corn cob, sugar-cane leaves, rice cobs and tropical grass. Those materials can be used as low cost thermal isolation. This work is a collection of ideas about those materials and their use into the solar energy systems.
