This work presents a software which defines a photovoltaic system from data of power demand, solar incidence and absence of solar radiation. The amount and characteristics of the solar panels, the load controller and of the energy storage (lead-acid batteries) are considered. It is also presented an economical analysis of the total cost of a solar system from information of the individual costs of each component. A library containing several component manufacturers is presented, with the possibility of including new manufacturers. The program uses Visual Basic as the computational language, allowing the use in the internet by the execution of applets. The interactivity with the user and the presentation of illustrations or pictures of the selected components (when available) allow to any user (technically informed or not) a quick view and dimensioning of the photovoltaic generation system required for a given power demand.
