The recent modifications in the prices of fuels, the increasing emissions of pollutant gases in the atmosphere and the constant problems in the supply of electric energy in the rural area have motivated a search for alternative energy sources in the agricultural sector. Amongst these, the recycling of residues to generate combustible gas and biofertilizer. The increasing concern with the destination of the manure produced in the pigsties and dairies called the attention of technicians of the farm and mobilized students and professors of The Solar Energy Laboratory, GREEN Solar. Thus, the project "Solar Heating and Biogas - The use of Solar Energy in Agroindustries" became a reality. With the support of the Foundation of Support of Research in the State of Minas Gerais (FAPEMIG), the work was developed with the objective to analyze the cost benefit relation of using alternative energy sources already available in the agricultural area. A biodigestor in experimental scale will be built in PUC-Minas' Farm using manure of swine. Biogas and biofertilizer will be used in the farm.
