This paper describes the survey of a combined electrodialysis and PV system and its application in the Brazilian Northeast region. The process of electrodialysis consists in the transference of ions out of the water whose excess of salt shall be taken away through a membrane of cation and anion to a concentrated flow. The results are the flows of drinkable water with a proper quantity of salt to human organism and the concentrated one that has got mostly the salt from the initial water. The use of PV arrays to power that plant, which aims to take away the excess of brackish water from deep wells, is feasible in arid and half arid regions. At those places there is a deficient water supply, a short grid and a high level of solar radiation. The latter being the main way to drive the plant of desalination and spread the electrodialysis process of direct current by PV arrays.
