The developed countries are responsible for the majority of the global R&D capacity. Therefore, the new technologies and processes are introduced by them in order to fulfill their societal needs. On the other hand, the developing countries' S&T systems do not satisfactorily reflect the needs, especially the energy needs, of their traditional and rural sector, in which a large number of their poor population are concentrated. For those reasons, the aim of this paper is to integrate two distinct methodologies for the generation and evaluation of appropriate energy technologies in rural areas.
