A study of the potential of the açaí (Euterpe oleracea, Mart) was accomplished for the production of energy briquettes. The biomass used is the residue of açai (Euterpe olerácea, Mart.) coming of a palm tree of amazon origin, it grows in touceiras, composed by several estipes that can arrive up to 25 feet in each touceira. The State of Pará is the largest national producer of açai with 112.676 ton/year/ of the fruit, of a total of 93.521 ton/year of its residue (pit). The calorific power of the residue obtained was on the average of 4.500 kcal/kg and potential of 40.751 MWh/month. The viability of production of the briquettes of açai residues is very good, taking in consideration several aspects that it will be discussed.
