This work relates to the implementation actions taken by the Xingó Institute / field of energy - photovoltaic rural electrification. the Xingó Institute has a multidisciplinary program, developed jointly by the CNPq- Brazilian National Council for Scientific and Technological Development and by CHESF- Hydroelectric Company of the São Francisco River. It describes summarily the electrification and systematic and technical process of the installed systems with monitoring of energy consumption by the energised unit. The activities began in middle of 1999 and in 2001 32 fotovoltaic systems had were installed: 26 schools, 02 health centres, 1 restaurant, 1 church and 2 water supply systems. The capacity of photovoltaic systems varies from 200 Wp to 1300 Wp, operating in 110 V.ac. All the systems were made available by the Federal Government / Mining and Energy Ministry through the State and Local Development Program-PRODEEM.
