The use of stationary engines to drive electric generator for energy supply of isolated residences faces a critical situation: low loading factor. As result, it brings about a high electricity cost of kWh, rending its continuous use unconceivable. Thus, this paper presents a proposal to make economically viable the maintenance of energy supply system, enhancing its availability and highly decreasing its operational costs by the use of a bank of batteries in parallel with the loading. So, the surplus of the generation capacity could be used to load the bank of batteries, supplying the consumption in moments of low demand with a inverter DC/AC. With the use of efficient appliances, only 50 kWh are enough to satisfy the supply of communication, illumination and refrigeration. Therefore, one proposes the use of a 2kW gas generator. Thus, working just an hour per day, the generator would generate 60kWh/month, consuming 24 liters of gasoline, producing a surplus of 10kWh for small occasional loads. If one considers the cost of fuel R$ 1.90, its cost per month would be R$ 45.60 or else R$ 0.76 per kWh. If a single phase electric network returning by the ground in the place where this research has been installed, the cost was R$ 7,000.00, with a 12% annual interest rate and having a five year period for its payment, would represent a monthly payment of R$153.55. A generator group acquired in the same conditions would demand monthly payments of R$ 35.00. Along with fuel expenses, the total cost would be R$ 80.60.
