This work has employed the physical-mathematical model proposed by Hsieh for the thermal analysis of CPC (s). The model has been modified to take into account the substitution of the conventional absorber by heat pipes. The thermal analysis has been carried out consjdering steady state. In order to simulate the conditions of operation a computer program has been developed, based on meteorological data, optical features and operation parameters. A system employing CPC(s) having heat pipes as absorber was built and field tested. The experimental results have been compared with those of the theoretical simulation. This comparison has showed that Hsieb modified model, produces a suitable method for the permance prediction of the latter has also been compared with data obtained from reference, where a conventional CPC is also used. The comparison indicates that an average percentual increase of 62% for the efficiency can be considered when the CPC employs heat pipes.
