It is presented an study of the operational impact into a briquettes factory produced by the introduction of a torrefaction process. Through costs analysis it is shown that for a briquettes factory of 1.200 ton/ year capacity, it is possible to increase Operational Profits and decrease the Break Even Point in 15.7 % when a torrification reactor is introduced into the manufacturing line. So, it is possible to insure that torrefaction increase the overall system efficiency without increasing yearly production since the number of "biomass fuels" is increased enabling operation in other markets. This study also shows that torrefaction improves briquettes quality allowing access to the comparatively smaller consumer market still unreached by biomass briquetters.
