The post-freudians theorised maternity as an objective for the feminility. Freud understands that a child’s desire is a consequence of the women’s penis envy. Lacan reconnects maternity and castration. This paper intends to analyze the relation mother-child focusing in Tólstoi’s novel, Ana Kererina, proposing a discution between femininity and maternity and its implications for the psychoanalytic clinic.
