The study seeks to analyze communication of the self-exam technique using an educational video. 90 women participated, who watched the educational video about the breast self-exam technique in February 2001. We observed that 31 of them mention a total lack of knowledge about breast cancer, 35 do not know about the precocious cancer detection methods, 71 (99%) do not realize the breast self-exam and 67 (61%) do not know how to use the technique. We concluded that, after the presentation of the educational video, the women increased the level of information about breast cancer and the precocious detection method and demonstrated more security in realizing the breast self-exam.
