Abstract

SANTOS, Marcílio Sampaio dos and MARTINEZ EVORA, Yolanda Dora. The introduction of informatics in nursing practice: possibility of changes in work process management. In Proceedings of the 8. This is a theoretical-exploratory research that revises studies produced in Brazil and abroad in the period from 1990 to 2000. The aim is to know which working processes could be computerized in order to liberate nurses in order to be closer to their patients. Within this perspective, this article tries to understand the use of the computerization of several nursing intervention processes in the hospital context as well as the possibilities of change. The object of investigation was the contents of several studies regarding the use of new technologies in the nursing working process. As a data analysis technique, we chose to use the thematic content analysis described by Bardin (1977). The theoretical references and the content analysis of several articles allowed for the detection of institutional interference in day by day nursing. The outcomes of this investigation show that an intellectual project needs to be introduced, around which new knowledge, practices and technologies will emerge with a view to changing the care administration culture, reformulating organization charts, eliminating routines and useless and unnecessary bureaucracy, rethinking subjects that emphasize daily life in the hospital, its working processes and even the power relationships established inside teams and, finally, investing in individuals that are more free, critical and thoughtful.
