This is an "almost" experimental research experienced when students from the 6th period of the undergraduate course in nursing at the Alfredo Pinto College of Nursing/University of Rio de Janeiro constructed a doll for presentation and discussion, on the occasion of the subject matter " Paradigms of Nursing knowledge II". The goals were: to explore emotions felt in making the doll on the basis of the taste and touch senses; to investigate if the construction of a doll as a body for care makes the academics reflect about the best way to care for the human body. This research presents a qualitative approach and the strategy used for collecting information was the confection of an instrument for interviewing ten academics who participated in the construction of this toy, which allowed for the construction of two categories, called: CONTAINING the EMOTIONS of the student’s body in creating a DOLL as a BODY for CARE; the EXPRESSION of the emotions of the student’s BODY in creating a DOLL as a BODY for CARE. We conclude that, in personifying the doll, the academics started to offer special care, providing it with a rationality that mediates the sensitive and the intelligible.
