Abstract

SOARES, Narciso Vieira and LUNARDI, Valéria Lerch. Communication, the information as a possibility for reducing the asymmetry between the health professional and the client. In Proceedings of the 8. Brazilian Nursing Communication Symposium, 2002, San Pablo (SP, Brazil) [online]. 2002 [cited 18 April 2024]. Available from: <http://www.proceedings.scielo.br/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&pid=MSC0000000052002000100027&lng=en&nrm=iso> .

On the basis of the perception of paternalistic, authoritarian and vertical relations between health professionals and customers, we made a more thorough theoretical study about the ethics and client rights issues in day-by-day nursing, supported by authors who have been approaching these subjects from different angles. In this text, we specifically approach the importance of communication and the exchange of knowledge as an instrument for reducing the asymmetrical relations between the health professionals and the clients.

Keywords : communication; ethics; customer right.
