The present study it consists of the description of experiences with women during pregnancy and the puerperium in the city of São Miguel das Missões in Rio Grande do Sul, where the nurse/client communication was accomplished through the nursing consultation, resulting in an educational process, which reflected in the improvement of care and in the quality of life of the clients that were attended.
