Apart from the documental function, reporting is a way of communicating, writting down clients’ clinical occurrences, rendered care, identified real and potential problems, as well the measures taken. This study aims to:1) Analyze the nursing team records related to veined access of clients with HIV/AIDS and 2) identify, in the nursing records, subsidies for the control and prevention of catheter-related infecctions in these clients. This is a quantitative research developed in a University Hospital in Rio de Janeiro. Data were collected through a search in the HIV/AIDS client registers, using a form It was noticed, among the 126 records that were investigated, only one had occurred in each turn. Most of them were made by nursing technicians, assistants and medium-level trainees. It was also noticed that these records are repetitive and do not cover important questionssuch as: the bandage, phlogistic signs and local complications, which may compromise their communicative function with a view to the prevention and control of infecctions related to the veined catheter.
