Epidemiological studies indicate that adolescents has been considered a vulnerable group for experimenting psychoactive substances and various factors can contribute to this situation. This research consists of a pilot study aimed at obtaining subsidies for a larger research on the opinion and knowledge concerning preventive advertisements against the use of alcohol, tobacco and drugs among high school students. Through a random sample, 45 (33.74%) high school students from a private school were evaluated. Results show that preventive advertisements had been seen and remembered by most of the interviewees, which suggested that the sample was satisfactory. Television was unanimously mentioned as one of the most representative media through which the participants had been in contact with the advertisements. It was conclude that there was an incongruence between the students’ answers about this contact, particularly through television, and what they were able to describe with regard to what they had seen, it seems that the objective of the campaign, that is, awareness development concerning questions related to alcohol, tobacco and drugs and the prevention of their use, is not being fully achieved. The most frequently remembered preventive advertisements referred to the use of alcohol, followed by tobacco.
