Abstract

Bragheto Cintia, Almeida Ana Maria de. Otherness and breast cancer: an analysis based on discourse. In: Proceedings of the 8. Brazilian Nursing Communication Symposium [Proceedings online]; 2002  May 02-03; São Paulo, SP, Brazil. 2002 [cited 2024 Apr 19]. Available from: URL: http://www.proceedings.scielo.br/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&pid=MSC0000000052002000200007&lng=en&nrm=van .

As a result of the small amount of health research with respect to otherness, we propose to discuss otherness in relation to breast cancer. Thus, literature is revised in a non systematized way. The collected data reveal the great extent to which the question of otherness is present in the woman with breast cancer. Hence, we point out the implications in the institutional and professional health context.

Keywords : otherness; breast cancer; discourse.
