The construction of prenatal care quality as established by the Ministry of Health includes to valuation of reception as one of its components. This paper aims to present the results of a research about relational factors pointed out by a group of pregnant women as the reason for them to continue to attend a prenatal service far from their homes. It is a qualitative data analysis held at the Maternal Support Prenatal Service, which refers to the reports by 211 women who live outside the area covered by the institution and attended at least six appointments. The answers related to the pregnant women’s experience as service users were categorized in the administrative, technical and interpersonal relationship dimensions. Data show that interpersonal and technical aspects were most appreciated in the service and were the reason for continued attendance. All reports demonstrate what the women want: to be treated as human beings, to be received and respected without judgement and prejudice. They trust in the competency of the professionals who work at the institution.

Palavras-chave : prenatal care; receiving; interpersonal relationships.
