This article aims to show the utilization of an educational game to stimulate considerations and group discussions in a group of nurses about therapeutic communication in care practice at a general hospital. This is an exploratory participative study with qualitative data analysis. An educational game adapted from Stefanelli (1993) was applied to a group of 5 nurses at a general hospital with 67 beds in Cascavel, Parana. Data were collected between July and September 1999, by means of group meeting during which the rules of the game were explained. This game is composed of cards with messages to stimulate discussions about therapeutic communication, and through discussions and reflections, a therapeutic communication concept was constructed in the group. It could be concluded that the use of the game was a valid strategy for reflecting on therapeutic communication, which was disclosed in the conducted evaluation.
