Considering the importance of communication as one of the nursing team’s instruments for delivering a more humanistic and holistic care to HIV/AIDS patients, the authors realized a study about verbal communication between the nursing team and these patients, with a view to describing the communication established between the nursing team and HIV/AIDS patients and analyzing the verbal communication observed. This is a descriptive research from a qualitative approach. Data were collected through non-participant observation. Data analysis was based on Stefanelli’s (1998) therapeutic communication techniques. The results demonstrated a non-significant form of communication between the subjects.
