The scientific production of nursing needs to be communicated with a view to founding daily behavior in literature data and for professionals to be able to orient themselves in relation to teaching, care and research. Thus, this knowledge will be subject to inquiries, contributing to professional improvement and the appearance of new research. This study aimed to describe the importance of divulging scientific nursing knowledge, to present some means for communicating scientific knowledge and to describe the stages of oral and panel presentation in scientific events. The objectives were reached by means of bibliographical revision, based on studies whose central theme was the dissemination of scientific production in the nursing area. When disseminating a research at a scientific event, besides communication mechanisms, the nature of the scientific event, the contents of the presentation and target public must be taking into consideration. It is considered important for the nurses to understand that the interaction between theoretical knowledge and practice only happens by means of dissemination, which will facilitate information exchange, giving rise to inquiries, new research and the application of results to professional practice.
