Abstract

Has long been happening in society cases of spinal cord injury affects people of various ages, rather than circumstantial occurrences of accidents, or fall, automobile trauma, diving into shallow water, etc ... All via the seriousness of this problem becomes larger depending on the region of the spine that is affected. This is because this situation occurs in relation to body and brain. The greater severity of this problem lies in the affected spinal regions C3 - C7, changing sensory and motor functions of the organic system, to that data from the scientific literature regarding tetraplegia highlight the importance of care emphasizing health education in this process . THIS POST HAS LED TO THE FOLLOWING OBJECTIVES: to seek the meaning of being a quadriplegic, identifying their feelings, anxieties, fears and aspirations, thereby developing with them in a participatory and dialogic educational, seeing improved quality of life. METHODOLOGY: a qualitative research work, mediated by the research method - action, based on a theoretical framework of Paulo Freire appropriating this study participant observation using a Field Journal and individual interviews. And the individual interview questionnaire nortiador. The study included three subjects, one from Spain and two from Brazil. All same-sex male couples and singles. Being a university and two high school put an incomplete retirees. All are Catholics. A high purchasing power and other lower middle class. THE ANALYSIS OF THE DATA WAS CATEGORIZED RESULTS: Compared with the results of the categories, we have experiences and behaviors identified in the first subject, perception of the severity of their condition of dependency and complexity, with positive expectations of life to make adjustments, adjustments adaptations and prospects considering the optimization of your life. The other subjects, these state that the start of fighting the disease and disability all this was extremely distressing and recurrent infections. In reviews and figures show his feelings turned to puzzlement about their problems when mentioning the difficulties and complications that permeate their lives and remember the consequences, but nevertheless shows the possibilities and hopes giving relevant meaning to family and friends in general. FEELINGS AND EMOTIONS: the subject abroad reflects on the accident showing the reality of the effects of the disease, but creates expectations for improving their health in the future, while the two Brazilians and their families, were highlighted as a result everything was over. THE ISSUES: A) Knowledge: The three participants in this study show no indifference in the social environment in relation to quadriplegia, confirming the presence of taboo and prejudice toward disability greatly in physics. B) Sensory: When receiving the news of quadriplegia, all found to have been complex to understand this process, highlighting sense of insecurity, disappointment and loss of integrity. CONCLUSION: For both understand their disease as complex and demand careful valuing education in this process. They emphasize rehabilitation as a process, followed by attention, skill and confidence in each one. Recognize difficulty mainly in the gut, because dependence on another person, leaving an unpleasant feeling. Yet most higher power among others.
