This study presents an intervention with teenagers with deprivation of liberty in Physical Education classes. The central objective of the research concerns the need for change in terms of pedagogical practice, considering the low participation of adolescents in Physical Education classes. This concern justifies the proposed intervention, which aims the implementation of participatory planning based on dialogues on the thematic content session "cultural elements of human movement", which includes: game and play; sports, martial arts and capoeira; dance; gymnastics and circus activities; activities of daily life. The used methodological procedures involve systematic record of the observations in field diaries and subsequent formation of thematic categories for data analysis. In the results, the following themes were formed: A) participation/involvement of teenagers in the classroom and B) teacher-student relationship. We noticed that right after the presentation of the thematic content session the teenagers chose the cultural element "sport", more specifically, the team sport "indoor soccer", as well as games to be developed during a two month period. In the development of the pedagogical practice during the two months of the intervention, we discussed issues related to guidance, to give meaning to what we were doing, and we observed an increased participation and student involvement in class. In the considerations, in addition to knowing and recognizing the previous knowledge of these students, we perceived a greater involvement by them, particularly due to their understanding of the meaning and the intention of learning the contents commonly chosen in the participatory planning, as well as the respectful relationship between the teacher and the students.
