This text is part of my doctoral dissertation and aims to bring elements that may contribute to the discussion of the political education necessary for political participation in democratic spaces of participation, whether institutionalized or not. Assuming that such training takes place in life, and that it is not an educated training, associated with different participatory processes that are closely linked to struggles for rights historically denied, we believe that bringing the possibilities of learning, developed from participation in social movements, can help us to highlight the importance of education, not emerging from formal education school, for it should be considered, since it brings important contributions to the ongoing struggle for rights. With the qualitative approach, the survey was conducted involving theoretical analysis and interviews with school counselors, who participate or not in social movements. In this paper we highlight important contributions of the studies developed by Maria da Gloria Gohn, Miguel Gonzalez Arroyo, Ilse Scherer-Warren, Rosero Garcez and others that deal with social movements and their pedagogy as having a specific form of manifestation that contributes to research and to the development of policies concerned with the political training aiming democratic practice.
