By understanding Social Pedagogy as a theory that guides the practice of social education, and that socio-educative actions developed in Social Assistance aim at the improvement of familiar and social relationships, this article's objective is to analyze some theoretical contributions of Social Pedagogy, Psychology and Social Assistance in relation to the possibilities of using communitary playing spaces as tools to work with families. In order to achieve this goal, it is necessary to make a theoretical contextualization of the importance of playing acts, as well as a promotion of the interactions that are made possible by these spaces, which strenghten the role of communitary playing spaces as a tool for working with Social Assistance. This study consists of a descriptive and explicative research, based on the analysis of documents and selected bibliography regarding the theme. The idea is to start with a historical contextualization about playing spaces and their functions, followed by a discussion regarding the importance of free-playing in the process of socializing the individual, as well as the work with families in Social Assistance. Finally, the ideia is to conclude the article with theoretical considerations that support the insertion of communitary playing spaces as a tool for working with social inclusion.
