This Article systematises the analysis, of the Masters Degree Stricto Sense Policies and Practices in Adolescents in conflict with the Law research, of the Bandeirantes University in São Paulo, completed in 2011. The literature review aims to uncover the theoretical basis of social liberal education, that was structured from the analysis of 27 systematized practices and methodologies to adolescents in conflict with the law studies, in Brazil. The research problem was to identify, how the theoretical basis of social liberal education are present in the methodologies of care and socio-educational practices developed with adolescents in conflict with the law. To set the object of this study it was selected studies conducted between 1990 to 2008, available in a database of thesis and dissertations of the Coordination of development of senior staff (CAPES). In this study, a parallel between the school education and social education foundation, conceiving that the school education space is the institutional school, while for social education, when it comes to adolescents in conflict with the law, the place is the institutional socioeducation space which is based on two theories, the liberal social one and the progressive one. The presented paper follows the path traveled by Dermeval Saviani theory that analyses the theories of education and aims to identify the presence of non-critical theories within the socioeducation. This study is justified because it has relevance for the professionals who are working in this area.
