This paper presents reflections derived from research conducted during the course of specialization in education, whose goal was to identify obstacles faced by the homeless population of São Carlos/SP, facing the possibility of return and continue his education under the care of CREAS POP, with a view to contributing towards the formulation of strategies to overcome difficulties that lead people to think that access to education as a privilege of limited groups of society and not as a human right. Thus, the case study was based on the reference of Popular Education, with the methodological principles the dialogue and coexistence between researcher and subjects in the research. The methodological procedures were adopted: interviews, notes in diary and participant observation of classes that have happened in the CREAS POP. Data analysis was developed in dialogue with research participants and culminated in a schematic table containing what we call "obstacles to the return/ continuation of the educational process" and the "possibilities of overcoming these obstacles". Reports from participants show that there are various difficulties faced by homeless population facing the possibility of return and continue their schooling, such as the fact of being out of school for too long time can encourage the belief that at least knows not have academic knowledge; stigma experienced daily by being on the streets, not possessing material conditions (clothes, school supplies, etc) to be in school environments, possible addiction, among others. In turn, the possibilities of overcoming glimpsed also performed in a diversified way and affirmed the importance of their own homeless population have, increasingly, voice in areas of policy-making concerning their independence and emancipation, as well as able to count on the support that will encourage people to overcome their difficulties and of institutions and services that have professional ready to welcome them in their diversity, beyond the development of actions that favor the creation of a new vision of society for people who are on the streets.
