This paper has the purpose of describing the physical principles that conduct the distribution of frequencies in acoustic piano scales. First, the problems due to the existence of rigidity or tenacity in real struck strings are evaluated in terms of inharmonicity. Next, the criteria commonly adopted to the spacing of tuning deviations is discussed and the logic of the procedures used by technicians to adjust these instruments is presented.
