This article was based on a doctorated thesis, research done at the settlement XVII of April, with the women settled. The study analises the women overworked that were historically restricted to the privated universe, but with the needs imposed by the capitalist system they were inserted in the labour market as cheap work force and industrial reserve army. However, these changes did not were followed by public politics neither by a sexual division of labour which could favored their emancipation. This study of qualitative nature brings data showing that women are responsible for housework, the surrounding land, in the most diverse works done in the settlement, confirming thus the workload imposed on them, that is: the double, the triple journey.
