Abstract

The aim of this paper is to demonstrate how degrading the labour in meatpacking is. For this, we used the bibliography on the job in meatpacking, as well as specific cases of illness in the sector, such as the information obtained from the Public Ministry of Labor (MPT). We also conducted interviews with the workers of Sadia in Toledo (PR), object of our investigation, with attention focused on the impacts on working conditions, health and life. Research results on these sources have shown that there are numerous cases of illnesses among the workers, which classify the meatpacking plants as work degradation territories.
