The present work isthe report of a case and aims todiscuss thepsychological distressof acontractorin the city ofTeresina,Piauí, who developed a mental disordercaused bystressfulworkday. The descriptionof the case wasrelevant, as itshowedhow the workcan act asa triggeroraggravatingapsychopathologicalframework. It was possible tobetter understandthe impactof workon health, especially mental healthand to verify theexistence ofa causal link betweenwork andmental suffering, and to understand howthis relationship is establishedin clinical practice.
