OBJECTIVE: To identify and characterize the occupational accidents occurred among nursing workers in Emergency Units. METHODS: Quantitative data analysis and transversal outlining obtained by descriptive evaluation methods. Carried out in a city of Minas Gerais State - BR 2006. RESULTS: The majority of people were female, age group between 20 and 59 years old. Nursing assistants prevailed and the weekly workload ranged from 44 to 136 hours. Needlesticks injures predominated. CONCLUSION: Nursing workers are accident-prone at work and their health conditions are compromised.
