This study aims to access the Professional Rehabilitation Service of the National Institute of Brazilian Social Security from the perspective of the workers' health as the locus of the professional social work welfare. It renders problematic the rehabilitation considering the work centrality in society and the constitution of public policies. It came to the conclusion that this service was done not only to serve the workers' needs in the perspective of their rights, but also as "post-factum answer" to what was generated due to work exploitation and has been directed by the logic of costs containment in pension policy.
