Currently, one of the principal measures adopted by the sugarcane industry in Alagoas is the option for young and "highly productive" workers, which, in the attempt to fit the heavy demands, often become victims of serious health problems. This, along with other factors, converts their work in a "suffering" and "undervalued" experience. This study seeks to observe the impacts of "hard work" with sugarcane in the lives of young people who make their living from there. For this purpose, besides bibliographic research and the use of secondary sources, interviews were carried out with young workers from two important cities: Teotônio Vilela/AL and Pilar/AL.
