Abstract

LEITE, Alexandre César Cunha and MAXIMO, Jéssica Cristina Resende. Segurança e soberania no contexto chinês. In Proceedings of the 3rd ENABRI 2011 3° Encontro Nacional ABRI 2001, 2011, São Paulo (SP, Brazil) [online]. 2011 [cited 18 April 2024]. This study aims to reconstruct and analyze how the concepts of sovereignty and security were historically constructed in the Chinese reality and how they are connected with the project of national economic and social development of China's post-1978, with Deng Xiaoping's arrival in power and the beginning of the reform and opening-up policies. It is intended to stress to what extent the reflections on the concepts of security and sovereignty in the Chinese context led the country to change its understanding of the international relations and of its role in the world - as a 'responsible big country' - and to adopt a more careful posture with their image of a rising power in the International System. To do so, it is used for qualitative and quantitative methods to prepare this work.

Keywords : Security; Sovereignty; China; National Development.
