Abstract

The article explores the resolutions of VIII Meeting of American chancellors, event carried through in the Uruguayan city of Punta del Este, in January of 1962. The research used primary sources from the Brazilian Arquivo Histórico do Ministério das Relações Exteriores. Also published secondary documentation is used on the subject. It is looked to understand - and eventually to argue - the logic of the main involved actors in the question. Finally, the immediate resolutions of the Conference and its unfoldings are analyzed.
