This article proposes an analysis of the brazilian status in the international scenario and the principles and theories related to Human Rights in International Relations. The discussion presented here is based on the possibility to conciliate strategic interests with the affirmation of humanistic values, by the construction of a critical view of the brazilian foreign policy troughout history and the necessity to redefine its goals concerning Human Rights.
